Research Project: Assessing the Field and Watershed Scale Impacts of Conservation Practices in the Blanchard River Watershed

Location: Soil Drainage Research

Project Number: 5080-13210-003-029-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Sep 22, 2022
End Date: Sep 21, 2027

Objective:
Examine the influence of a multitude of conservation practices on nutrient export at a field and small watershed scale to determine the amount of implementation needed to reduce loads to acceptable limits.

Approach:
Utilize paired fields and paired watershed and a before after control impact design to assess the impacts of conservation practices. The edge of field site will be used to assess the impact of a single practice on surface and subsurface (tile) water quality. The watershed scale study will assess the impact of conservation practice density (i.e., utilizing multiple practices) in one watershed compared to business as usual in the pair.
