Research Project: Developing Breeding Resources and Understanding Pathogen Biology to Control Frogeye Leaf Spot in Indiana (Year 3)

Location: Crop Production and Pest Control Research

Project Number: 5020-21220-009-004-T
Project Type: Trust Fund Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2022
End Date: Mar 31, 2024

Objective:
This project aims to develop breeding resources and to understand pathogen biology for soybean frogeye leaf spot.

Approach:
1. Screen soybean germplasm for new source of resistance (collaborator responsibility) 2. Characterize previously identified source of resistance and identify associated molecular markers to facilitate breeding (collaborator responsibility) 3. Characterize population structure and potential sexual recombination of a pathogen population previously collected through a previous collaboration. 4. Examine pathogen virulence against a set of differentials.
