Objective:
Chalcidoidea are a large group of parasitic wasps important to agroecosystems as many provide biological control of insect pests. The objective is to provide a public interface for the new, community maintained Universal Chalcidoidea Database that has been migrated to Taxonworks online database. This consists of developing an application programming interface to enable fast and efficient searching of this large database of parasitic wasps of agricultural and economic importance. The current version of the Universal Chalcidoidea Database, will be taken offline by its maintainers at an unknown, but likely soon, time that is out of our control.
Approach:
This website will be created with the Vue.js JavaScript framework, using the Taxonworks Application Programming Interface to retrieve data. Successful previous models for this work includes the World Catalogue of Opiliones (WCO-Lite (wcolite.com)). Additionally, the Taxonworks team provides extensive tutorial support for developing Vue.js websites that use Taxonworks.
