Research Project: LandCART Development and Maintenance

Location: Range Management Research

Project Number: 3050-21600-001-074-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2022
End Date: Dec 31, 2023

Objective:
Landscape cover analysis and reporting tools (LandCART) is an online fractional vegetation cover mapping tool used by rangeland managers to support grazing decisions, treatment effectiveness, and to detect landscape change over time. The objective of this project is to continue to support the availability of this tool to land management stakeholders (e.g., the Bureau of Land Management), and to develop new features to advance understanding of rangelands and how they are changing.

Approach:
(1) Continue research of fractional vegetation cover prediction methods, including adding more AIM indicators to the default list, (2) testing LandCART methods in areas outside the lower western 48 states, (3) updating code changes and fixing bugs in back-end code, (4) answering user questions about the application, and (5) general support of LandCART application.
