Objective:
The objective is to integrate a canopy-temperature-based crop water stress index (CWSI) into the WISE (Water Irrigation Scheduler for Efficient Application) tool, and develop mobile phone-based applications (for the larger-scale end-user applications of the CWSI-integrated WISE irrigation scheduling tool.
Approach:
ARS has developed a Python package to realize two major CWSI computational methods
(https://github.com/lhomanh/CWSI-Calculation-with-Python-and-FlaskAPI).
We will convert the WISE tool from its Excel-based application into a Python package and integrate the CWSI Python package. Next step is to deliver the integrated CWSI-WISE tool Python packages as web- or mobile-based irrigation scheduling tool to enable efficient irrigation decision-making.
