Objective:
The ARS PI and the Cooperator will work collaboratively to: Objective 1. To identify the economic limitations and increase the financial resilience of beginning and diverse farmers and landowners in the Upper Midwest by strengthening knowledge and capacity to improve income opportunities tied to regenerative and soil health-promoting agricultural strategies, thereby creating opportunities for access to capital to pursue regenerative farming practices.

Approach:
The Cooperator will undertake the following activities to address the objective outlined above. To achieve objective 1, a series of five workshops will be offered to beginning and diverse farmers in the Upper Midwest. Three workshops will address issues of financial literacy including bookkeeping basics, credit and debt, and heirs property. Two workshops will address farming-specific resources and programs to achieve soil healthbuilding practices. In order to complete this amended Scope of Work within an appropriate timeframe, we request a one-year extension to 02/14/2026.
