Objective:
The purpose of the MOU is for NC State to host a new hub of the ARS Scientific Computing Initiative (SCINet).
Approach:
This new SCINet hub will support state-of-the-art scientific computing for innovative agricultural research, including: advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning methods; analyses of complex image data including high-dimensional data from uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs); large-scale mechanistic modeling; and high-throughput analyses of biological sequence data. The new hub will also support research, training, and workforce development collaborations between NC State and ARS that will expand the frontier of agricultural science. ARS will fund the hardware, software, and required support costs to run the system. NC State will manage the computing platforms, communication networks, digital storage, and technical support.
