Research Project: A Chromosome-Scale Gymnocladus Dioicus Genome and Large-Scale Germplasm Sequencing For Trait Mapping, Sex Determination, and Conservation Genomics

Location: Plant Introduction Research

Project Number: 5030-21000-070-005-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Mar 1, 2024
End Date: Feb 28, 2025

Objective:
1. Identify the sexual system and genome size of Gymnocladus dioicus. 2. Characterize germplasm diversity.

Approach:
Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) isolation will be executed using standard cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) extraction. Illumina polymerase chain reaction (PCR) genome sequencing will be used to identify the sexual system of G. dioicus.
