Objective:
Develop a research and monitoring network to collect and synthesize NH3, N2O and CH4 data from livestock production systems to improve model estimates.
Approach:
This agreement is specifically to provide equipment for measuring emission from animal housing and manure storage for the greenhouse gas monitoring network. Six open path Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometers and one instrument utilizing cavity ring down spectroscopy will be purchased to enhance the analytical capacity and enable researchers to start monitoring projects. Monitoring data will verify modeling estimates, provide calibration data, and identify opportunities for improved model equations.
