Objective:
Investigate genetic foundations for production of unusual fatty acids in cottonseed oils, and study the metabolic effects of feeding oils with altered amounts of these fatty acids on the liver and blood lipid profiles of mice that consume the oils.
Approach:
Subrecipient will conduct animal feeding and metabolomic studies to determine health impacts of modified cottonseed oils generated by ARS scientists. Funds will be used to pay for consumables related to such testing.
