Objective:
The objective of this agreement is to characterize and conserve Persea species in Eastern North America, which are considered urgent conservation priorities due to the spread of the lethal Laurel Wilt pathogen.

Approach:
To accomplish this objective, the cooperator and ARS will work together to design and conduct research projects to sample in situ populations of Persea, conduct genetic analysis, and prioritize conservation activities to protect threatened populations both in- and ex-situ.
