Research Project: Precision Climate Data for Improved Spray and Greenhouse Production Models

Location: Application Technology Research

Project Number: 5082-21000-001-097-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 1, 2024
End Date: Jun 30, 2025

Objective:
Improve the operation of weather stations in Ohio. These weather stations will provide more accurate and accessible data for predicting pest emergence, modeling spray patterns in nursery crops, as well as predicting greenhouse climate conditions. Cooperator will provide electronic, sensory, and data logging expertise to renovate five existing weather stations throughout Ohio.

Approach:
Weather station sensors will be modernized and calibrated. Programs for logging weather data will be written. Cooperator will use these data to develop models that predict pest emergence, improve spray drift models, and predict climate conditions in high tunnels and other enclosed structures for nursery and greenhouse crops.
