Objective:
To better understand and quantify the ecosystem services of turf.
Approach:
ARS and collaborators will work together to quantify the ecosystem services provided by turf in urban environments in Minnesota (e.g. Minneapolis/St. Paul), Wisconsin (e.g Madison/Milwaukee) and Illinois (e.g. Chicago). The funds will support the expansion of current research in the area of ecosystem services of turf in Madison, WI, and St. Paul, MN, and allow for cross location projects that will develop to include additional locations and scales. Projects will include laboratory, field and modeling efforts.
