Objective:
To develop an improved Active LAser-Camera Scanner (ALACS) for a dual-arm robotic harvester for faster and more efficient picking of apples.
Approach:
1. Propose and test a new hardware design for the Active LAser-Camera Scanner (ALACS) to enable faster and more accurate scanning of target fruits for the dual-arm robotic harvester.
2. Develop efficient software algorithms, including optimized scanning schemes and precise laser line extraction methodologies, for accurate localization of target fruits.
