Research Project: Use of Genomic Technology to Enhance Peanut Cultivar Development

Location: Crop Genetics and Breeding Research

Project Number: 6048-21000-031-013-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 1, 2024
End Date: Jun 30, 2029

Objective:
1. To deploy a state-of-art genotyping method broadly to US public peanut breeders for use in cultivar development. 2. Develop drought tolerant genotypes using newly discovered genomic markers linked to yield protection under drought.

Approach:
Peanut breeding programs will provide DNA samples to Hudson Alpha. Hudson Alpha will provide genetic analysis of these samples that the breeding program can use to accelerate cultivar development efforts.
