Research Project: Strengthening 1890 Capacity in Plant Breeding and Promotion of Edamame and Dual-Purpose Soybeans for South Atlantic States

Location: Soybean and Nitrogen Fixation Research

Project Number: 6070-21220-070-062-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 1, 2024
End Date: Apr 23, 2026

Objective:
Objectives to which ARS investigator will contribute: Evaluate the agronomic performance and seed composition of soybean breeding lines developed for the edamame market.

Approach:
Eighty soybean breeding lines will be evaluated in replicated trials for three years in North Carolina. This shared activity will help determine the overall agronomic and quality performance of breeding materials as well as their stability across a range of environments. Evaluation will be conducted at NCSU research stations. Seed composition will be evaluated for protein and oil content.
