Research Project: Development of Reagents to Risk Group 4 Pathogens for Development of Diagnostic Capacities

Location: Biologics Development Module

Project Number: 3022-32000-026-014-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Jul 1, 2024
End Date: Jun 30, 2026

Objective:
Establishment of maximum-containment diagnostic and emergency response capabilities in support of the standup APHIS FADDL BSL4 diagnostic mission priorities at the National Bio and Agro-defense Facility (NBAF) through the generation of reagents.

Approach:
Reagents will be produced utilizing protein synthesis and purification against 8 protein targets, taking advantage of de-novo gene synthesis technologies to avoid the need to manipulate live BSL4 pathogens. A subset of these eight targets will be utilized to produce a minimum of five monoclonal hybridomas reactive to those proteins.
