Objective:
The Cooperator will complete various objectives of cover crop breeding, management, and extension. Objectives include 1) understanding livestock toxicity of hairy vetch and establish grower best management practices and 2) selecting cereal rye for establishment under low moisture conditions.

Approach:
The cooperator will 1) measure toxicity of hairy vetch among different growth stages, varieties, and forage processing methods; and 2) design a high-throughput growth chamber method to screen and select diverse cereal rye for germination capacity and early vigor under low moisture conditions.
