Research Project: Improved Pathogen detection and the Management of Bulb and Nursery Diseases

Location: Horticultural Crops Disease and Pest Management Research Unit

Project Number: 2072-22000-046-050-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2024
End Date: Oct 31, 2025

Objective:
Management of diseases associated with field and greenhouse production of bulb and cut flower crops.

Approach:
Replicated field trials will be conducted to determine the efficacy of fall and early spring applications of fungicides in controlling Botrytis basal stem decay on field-grown peonies. A long-term postharvest storage trial, followed by a vase life display test will also be conducted on peonies to evaluate the effectiveness of pre and/or postharvest applications of fungicides in controlling Botrytis development during storage. Research information will be disseminated to stakeholders via a local field day and presentations at local, regional, or national grower conferences.
