Research Project: Structures and Functions of Selected Hessian Fly Effectors

Location: Hard Winter Wheat Genetics Research

Project Number: 3020-21000-012-023-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2024
End Date: Aug 31, 2027

Objective:
Determine the three dimensional structure of the putative Hessian fly effector 7D10 using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.

Approach:
Recombinant 7D10 protein will be expressed in the bacterial strain BL21 and purified to homogeneity in large quantity following the affinity approach using a nickel column. The purified protein will be used to determine its three dimensional structure using the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) facility available in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics by an expert in NMR spectroscopy.
