Objective:
Provide an in-depth evaluation of how nitrogen fertility recommendations and enhanced efficiency fertilizers can lead to sustainable production of major biofuels crops.
Approach:
1) Evaluate nitrogen fertility recommendations for corn, soybean, sorghum and canola and synthesize information to provide context relative to nitrous oxide emissions; and 2) Synthesize how enhanced efficiency fertilizers affect nitrous oxide emissions and how existing fertility recommendations accommodate the incorporation of enhanced efficiency fertilizers.
