Location: Crop Production and Protection
Project Number: 0206-22000-001-053-G
Project Type: Grant
Start Date: Sep 16, 2024
End Date: Sep 15, 2025
Objective:
Support of the Texas A&M Plant Breeding Symposium. This event offers invaluable opportunities for debuting the latest advancements in crop improvement and plant science, as well as academia-enterprise networking. Furthermore, we support the development of our graduate students through competitively awarded travel grants, opportunities to present their research to a broader audience, and a poster competition.
Approach:
The theme for the 2025 symposium is "From Field to Data: Evolving Roles of Plant Breeders in the Digital Age" that will cover a wide variety of topics that pertain to how modern plant breeders utilize innovative technologies and data analytics to enhance traditional breeding methods. Expected scheduled date is February 20th, 2025 on the Texas A&M campus. The main event will comprise four keynote speakers from across the country. Following our speakers, we will host a social gathering to facilitate the discussion of insights gained from the day’s presentations and an award ceremony to recognize the winners of the oral and poster presentations. The symposium will conclude the following day with an informal panel discussion by the keynote speakers during the Plant Breeding and Genetics Circle weekly meeting.
