Research Project: Tools and Resources to Explore Maize Multi-omics Data

Location: Corn Insects and Crop Genetics Research

Project Number: 5030-21000-072-009-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Feb 1, 2020
End Date: Jun 30, 2024

Objective:
To develop tools and resources that analyze, curate, and visualize multi-omics data (e.g., transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, epigenomics) from maize. The resources will be generalized to work on the single-, multi-, and pan-genome representations of Zea mays.

Approach:
The development and maintenance of multi-omic resources will be done in collaboration with the Cooperator with input from the maize research community. Tools at MaizeGDB already exist to search, analyze, visualize single-omic data for single reference genomes. These tools will be updated and new tools will be developed to support multi-omic analysis across multiple genomes and within a pan-genome. These tools/resources include the annotation and views on gene/gene model pages, qTeller RNA/protein expression visualization tool, genome browser tracks, downloadable tables, and methods to build searches across multiple data types. Stand-alone code and pipelines will be made publicly available through a code repository. Together, these data and tools will provide an important resource for MaizeGDB stakeholders.
