Objective:
To perform on farm semen and blood collection of selected sheep for the National Animal Germplasm Program

Approach:
To jointly identify sheep breeders in Virginia and surrounding states with unique breeding stock that will add genetic diversity to the National collection. Once breeders have been identified the Cooperator will schedule and perform on farm germplasm collection using their mobile laboratory. Semen collected will either be cryopreserved in the field or shipped to the ARS for cryopreservation using the protocols previously developed.
