Research Project: Characterizing the Physiological Role of SLC22A24

Location: Obesity and Metabolism Research

Project Number: 2032-10700-003-005-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Apr 1, 2021
End Date: Mar 31, 2025

Objective:
The Objective is to measure steroid glucuronides in cell culture media, transgenic mouse samples, and human plasma and urine collected at University of California, San Francisco, to aid in the determination of the role that SLC22A24 plays in steroid metabolism.

Approach:
Steroid glucuronides will be extracted from samples in the presence of isotopicly labeled standards and quantified by high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry using published methods. ARS researchers will advise on statistical analyses and data interpretation and participate in the generation of all written reports.
