Research Project: Novel Detection, Sampling, Epidemiology and Modeling Strategies for Plant Pathogens

Location: Subtropical Plant Pathology Research

Project Number: 6034-22000-045-003-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jun 1, 2021
End Date: May 31, 2026

Objective:
Develop and validate novel means for detection, sampling, epidemiology and modeling strategies for plant pathogens.

Approach:
Previous work has demonstrated that canines are effective for detection and sampling of bacterial plant pathogens of fruit trees, as verified by epidemiology and modeling strategies. These approaches will be developed, extended and validated for other types of pathogens and other types of crops. These tools and protocols will be used to analyze pathogens of vegetable and grape crops.
