Research Project: Genotyping Wildland Collections

Location: Forage and Range Research

Project Number: 2080-21500-002-007-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2020
End Date: Aug 30, 2025

Objective:
Genotype collection of Wildland forbs using one of several methods: GBS, Riptide RAPD, or skim sequencing. Analyze genetic markers for genetic relatedness and groupings. Coordinate with NRCS for publications.

Approach:
Forb collections will be made in silica gel by NRCS scientists and shipped to the FRR. The FRR will extract DNA, prepare a genotyping library of bulked samples, and submit for sequencing at third party vendors. After sequencing, the FRR will de-multiplex the samples by barcode, and conduct population relatedness ananyses.
