Location: Genetics and Animal Breeding
Project Number: 3040-31000-104-008-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: May 1, 2022
End Date: Apr 1, 2025
Objective:
Develop scientific information and new technology in areas of selection and management that improves efficiencies of production in beef, swine, and sheep.
Approach:
The University of Nebraska (UNL) and the USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS) have had a strong cooperative program at the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) since the development of the Center. Multidisciplinary teams of UNL and ARS-USMARC scientists will be formed across the period of the agreement to address specific issues related to selection and/or management practices across all three species. The contributions of these teams in solving these problems will be accumulated and incorporated into protocols that are used to solve problems of high importance to the beef, swine, and sheep industries.
