Objective:
The overall objectives are to evaluate cooperative nurseries and develop new varieties of spring and winter malting barley and soft winter wheat for resistance to FHB and reduced DON. We will participate in the coordinated sharing of information to generate a comprehensive source of information.
Approach:
We will hybridize barley and wheat lines that have FHB resistance for variety development. We will evaluate cooperative spring and winter barley and winter wheat nurseries and our own breeding lines in misted, inoculated nurseries using accepted management practices and data analyses.
