Research Project: FY 2022 Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP) - Benchmark Watershed Assessment Studies (on croplands), NSEU

Location: National Soil Erosion Research Laboratory

Project Number: 5020-12130-004-015-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Sep 2, 2022
End Date: Sep 30, 2027

Objective:
Assess the impact of conservation practice implementation on water quantity and water quality from tile-drained fields and small watersheds within the St. Joseph River watershed.

Approach:
1. Measure water quantity and water quality from agricultural fields and drainage ditches to quantify water, nutrient, and sediment transport; 2. Evaluate and test the effectiveness of conservation practices for improving water quantity and water quality from tile-drained fields and watersheds; and 3. Improve modeling and assessment tools for quantifying water, nutrient, and sediment transport for fields and watersheds under current and future climates.
