Objective:
The objective is to measure the biodegradability of latex films and commercial balloon products.
Approach:
Biodegradability of latex films and balloons will be evaluated using Respirometry in soil and marine environments. Standard (ASTM) methods developed for thermoplastics will be adapted, and data collected will be analyzed to inform a set of standard test conditions appropriate to latex films.
