Project Number: 5030-21000-070-006-N
Project Type: Non-Funded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Mar 1, 2024
End Date: Feb 28, 2025

Objective:
This agreement establishes a general framework for use of vehicles and farm equipment owned by the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in Ames, IA (“ARS- Ames” or “Agency”) by Iowa State University of Science and Technology (“Cooperator”), a public land-grant, institution of higher education established by the laws of the State of Iowa, in connection with collaborative research between ARS-Ames and Cooperator. ARS research facilities in Ames, IA, include the Corn Insects and Crop Genetics Research Unit (CICGRU, 819 Wallace Road, 1012 Crop Genomics Informatics Lab, Ames, IA, 50011), the National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment (NLAE, 1015 N. University Boulevard, Ames, IA, 50011), the Plant Introduction Research Unit (PIRU, 1305 State Avenue, Ames, IA, 50014) and the National Animal Disease Center (NADC, 1920 Dayton Avenue, Ames, IA, 50010). CICGRU, NLAE and PIRU are located on the Cooperator’s campus while researchers at NADC regularly conduct collaborative research with Cooperator. For purpose of this NFCA, ARS-Ames and Cooperator may each be referred to individually as a "Party" and collectively as the "Parties." This NFCA is effective on the date last signed by the Parties below. Both Parties share an interest in research, education and extension in agriculture and related fields. The Parties collaborative worksites for this agreement include but are not limited to research at the North Central Regional Plant Introduction Station, Research Farm locations, and other locations used by ARS-Ames for field research as well as buildings on the campus of Cooperator, in Ames, IA, including Advanced Teaching Research Building (ATRB), Agronomy Hall, Crop Genomics Informatics Lab, Science II, High Performance Computing, the National Lab for Agriculture and the Environment and the National Swine Research Center.

Approach:
This agreement serves as the broad umbrella for the use of government owned vehicles and government owned farm machinery by non-federal employees. Cooperator full-time employees, part-time employees, graduate research assistants, and undergraduate research assistants are authorized, pending approval from ARS-Ames, to operate government owned vehicles and farm machinery and to ride as passengers in government owned vehicles and farm machinery operated by ARS employees in conjunction with this agreement.
