Research Project: Developing Best Management Practices, Tools, and Technologies to Optimize Sustainable Water Use in the Lower Mississippi River Basin

Location: Sustainable Water Management Research

Project Number: 6066-13000-006-025-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jan 2, 2023
End Date: Jan 1, 2027

Objective:
To identifying how alternative water use, crop management, and field practices affect and protect water quality for sustainable water use of the Mississippi River Valley Alluvial Aquifer (MRVAA).

Approach:
Nutrient management and cycling can be affected by irrigation and drainage methods such as furrow and sprinkler irrigation systems and tile drainage/sub-irrigation methods as it impacts soil water dynamics. This project will focus on developing best management practices, tools, and technologies to optimize sustainable water use in the Lower Mississippi River Basin.
