Research Project: WEPS Workplan 2024 With NRCS

Location: Rangeland Resources & Systems Research

Project Number: 3012-21500-001-018-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Aug 22, 2023
End Date: Aug 22, 2028

Objective:
1. Complete WEPS common browser-based interface that performs multiple sub region wind erosion predictions within a single field. 2. Technical assistance will be provided as needed for NRCS to maintain databases and address issues with WEPS software. 3. Maintain WEPS WebStart activities with NRCS full adoption ongoing, with updates as described in working documents.

Approach:
1. Conduct sub-field predictions accounting for different soils and management strategies within a single field. Outputs of sub-field predictions include those presented by the WEPS WebStart Run Report and Quickplots, as well as risk statistics reports and comparison reports between benchmark and selected conservation systems. 2. Review and respond to automatically reported bugs and user requests in the bug tracking system, identifying and describing the issues involved, and documenting and implementing necessary fixes to WEPS databases and programs. 3. Conduct post-release bug fixes and erosion statistic report integration.
