Research Project: SARS-CoV-2 White-tailed Deer Infection Dynamics and Antibody Persistence

Location: Infectious Bacterial Diseases Research

Project Number: 5030-32000-232-030-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Dec 1, 2023
End Date: Jul 31, 2025

Objective:
Utilize novel technology that allows for high throughput, multiplexed analysis of serum samples for antibodies to allow for a better understanding of the white-tailed deer humoral response to SARS-CoV-2.

Approach:
The objective of the project is to understand the antibody response of white-tailed deer to SARS-CoV-2 infection. The Cooperator has developed a multiplex assay for the detection of antibodies at the peptide level. The data that will be provided by the cooperator will determine the humoral response of the animal to ARAS-CoV-2. Samples will be collected and sent to the Cooperator to analyze said responses. The results will be collated with the collection sites to determine the virus loci and guide mitigation methods.
