Objective:
The objectives of this project are: 1) Determine the possible adverse effects of vaccination of Mycobacterium bovis infected cattle (Bos taurus) with the human tb vaccine(BCG)compared to vaccination of non-infected cattle.

Approach:
The ARS investigators will contribute to the project by: 1) Conducting vaccination and experimental infection studies in Bos indicus and Bos taurus cattle in high containment (Biolevel 3) animal housing. 2) Collecting samples for analysis of immune responses by both ARS scientists and cooperators. 3) Conducing postmortem exams, assessing disease severity, and interpreting gross and microscopic lesions.
