Objective:
Contribute to the Inflation Reduction Act Measurement Monitoring Reporting and Verification Action Area 2-Cropland through measurement of cropland methane and nitrous oxide emissions.
Approach:
At least four eddy covariance towers are to be set up and monitored on crop land, especially rice, under different irrigation strategies. Differences in emissions will be monitored using eddy covariance towers established on paired fields. Where possible, emissions data will be linked to water quality data from runoff samples. Chamber measurements will also be carried out for comparison to the eddy covariance towers and to allow monitoring of more locations.
