Objective:
Assess the chemical and physical changes in biochar (cashew trimmings and sewage sludge) after being applied to soil.
Approach:
The cooperator will conduct a sequence of greenhouse based experiments to assess the aging of sewage sludge biochar in two contrasting Brazilian soils. Sub-samples will be sent to the USDA-ARS laboratory for analysis. In addition, extractions will be performed on the soil samples to determine the impact on heavy metals during the greenhouse incubations.
