Research Project: Assessment of Agricultural Practices in the CMRB Region

Location: Cropping Systems and Water Quality Research

Project Number: 5070-12000-001-016-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 15, 2024
End Date: Aug 14, 2025

Objective:
Conduct cooperative research to quantify the prevailing and alternative agricultural practices being used in the region represented by the Central Mississippi River Basin (CMRB) Long-Term Agroecosystem Research (LTAR) site.

Approach:
Conduct quantitative and qualitative research to assess how current characterizations of the management practices employed at the CMRB LTAR research farms are representative of the region. Collect primary data through interviews and surveys with farm managers in the study region and ground findings as appropriate with secondary data from the 2017 and 2022 U.S. Census of Agriculture. The cooperator will participate in all phases of the project and lead data collection and analysis. In addition, input from the ARS PI will be solicited at each stage of these research activities and interpretation of the data into a manuscript to submit for peer-reviewed publication.
