Research Project: Choreographing Change in Agroecology: An NLGCA – Tribal College Network

Location: Agroecosystems Management Research

Project Number: 5030-13000-012-019-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2024

Objective:
To provide expertise on agroecosystem database structure to enable multi-institutional collaboration that focuses on soil, water, and food production systems for indigenous communities.

Approach:
The ARS team will follow a three-pronged approach to meet the Objective: 1. Utilize in-house knowledge on agroecological databases toward the development of a database that specializes on water, soil, and production systems for indigenous communities in the U.S. (Wisconsin, Montana) and New Zealand. 2. Participate in training activities to demonstrate how data sharing and use across indigenous people can help improve resource use efficiency for food production. 3. Provide a choreography through data analysis and visualization of the role that different conservation approaches play on ecosystem properties and food production in different indigenous communities.
