National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).Public Database Accession numbers JN621262-JN621269. Interpretive Summary: The fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda, is a major agricultural pest of the Western Hemisphere. Two strains of fall armyworm exist that have significant physiological and behavioral differences, including resistance to pesticides and preference to different plant hosts. Molecular characterization of strain-specific haplotypes have been done for U.S. and Brazil populations but it has not been established that these haplotypes are present in Argentina. DNA sequence analysis was used to demonstrate the ubiquity of the strain-specifying haplotype and to identify additional polymorphisms within Argentine specimens tested. These 12 additional haplotypes derived from Argentina have been assigned Genbank accession numbers JN621258-JN621269. Technical Abstract: N/A |
