Interpretive Summary: Larval Lepidoptera or caterpillars attack a number of agricultural crops and also damage trees and ornamentals. Parasitic wasps are often used in biologically based programs to control these pest caterpillars. This paper describes a previously unnamed species of parasitic wasp that attacks the larvae of a species of skipper. The information provided in this description will aid insect identifiers, action agency personnel, and scientists involved in biological control and integrated pest management.

Technical Abstract: Breviplectrus new genus with type species B. mandibularis, new species (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) are described. This species is a parasitoid of Mnasicles hicetaon (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae) in Costa Rica. Notes on the relationship of this genus to others in the Eulophinae are given.
