Such meters typically require a separate calibration for each different kind of grain or other granular material. The concept of a unified calibration function of the permittivity of the materials is discussed, which has been shown to provide suitable results with a single calibration for both wheat and corn and for both rape seed and oats in separate free-space measurements on these two pairs of commodities. A unified calibration function simplifies the development of practical microwave moisture meters for use with granular and particulate materials. |
