Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Two rice varieties that are prized among Asian consumers for their nutritional value were imported for study. We determined that these imported varieties produced grain with increased iron content only when grown under un-flooded conditions. Future studies to determine the genetic control of the high iron content characteristic of these imported lines will be conducted using field plots that are irrigated but not flooded.
