Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Field comparisons of Karate, Dimilin, and Icon against the rice water weevil in water seeded rice were conducted in the 1998 growing season. Timings of Karate and Dimilin applications were based on adult sampling with the applications made when densities of RWW reached a treatment threshold of one weevil per square foot. Karate was the only insecticide that reduced adult densities while all three insecticides gave significant reduction of larval densities. Rice yields were lowest in untreated plots, intermediate in Dimilin, Karate, and Furadan treated plots, and highest in Icon treated plots.
