Publication Type: Other Publication Acceptance Date: 12/8/1999 Publication Date: N/A Citation: N/A Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: The objective of this research was to evaluate ICIA-0224 and other soybean herbicides for weed control in glyphosate resistant soybean. The study was established at the University of Illinois Crop Sciences Research and Education Center, Urbana. The soil was a Drummer silty clay loam with a pH of 6.1 and 5.5% organic matter. Pioneer 9363 glyphosate resistant soybean was planted 1.0 inch deep May 10 in 30 inch rows. Treatments were arranged in randomized complete blocks with three replications of plots 7.5 by 30 feet. Herbicides were applied with a CO2 backpack sprayer delivering 20 gpa and equipped with 8003 flat fan nozzles for preemergence applications and 8002 flat fan nozzles for postemergence applications. Soybean injury varied greatly 10 days after postemergence herbicide application. Treatments containing fomesafen caused between 17 and 32% injury 10 days after application, while treatments containing ICIA-0224 caused 5% or less crop injury. All postemergence treatments except imazethapyr and imazamox provided 91% or better control of common waterhemp 10 days after application. Treatments containing ICIA-0224 provided 95% or greater control of all species evaluated 10 days after application, and 90% or greater control of all species 28 days after application. |
