One of the most important mites in coconut palms is the coconut mite. Aceria guerreronis K. Because most of these mites are small and are hidden under the carpels of the fruit field recognition and control of the mites are difficult. This article describes the author's experience collecting data about this mite with the local growers in El Salvador. Th importance of this story is to illustrate the practical aspects of systematic research. This report focuses on biologists, entomologists, zoologists and students involved in studies of nature and systematics.
