Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The nucleotide sequence of the unique short (US)/terminal repeat short (TRS) junction region of MDV isolates representing different pathotypes was examined. The two isolates from which the complete nucleotide sequence is available, Md5 and GA, present a great variation at the US/TRS junction region. The strains examined: CVI988, CU, JM, Md11 low passage, Md11 high passage and 584A had the same US/TRS junction and, interestingly, it was different from that of Md5 and GA. The sequence information presented here indicates that there seems to be no relationship between location of the IRS/US/TRS junction and the pathogenicity of the viruses.
