Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The mfpA gene encodes a putative membrane fusion protein that is a member of the AcrA/AcrE protein family. The P. syringae pv. syringae MtrC protein shows similarity to components of multidrug resistance efflux systems and a periplasmic localization is predicted. In P. syringae pv. syringae, the mfpA gene is located within the syringomycin/syringopeptin biosynthetic cluster near the salA gene which is required for lesion formation and the production of both syringomycin and syringopeptin. The role of the mfpA gene in pathogenicity is currently under investigation. Accession number: BankIt352964 AF297012
