Interpretive Summary: A physical map of bovine chromosome 27 (BTA27) was constructed using a collection of 90 radiation hybrid cell lines. Each of these cell lines contains different parts of the bovine genome. By studying which cell lines carry the BTA27 markers, the markers can be ordered relative to one another. This map contains 19 markers; 17 were microsatellite markers and 2 were single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with genes known to lie on BTA27. This physical map was compared and found to be in general agreement with the marker order on the Meat Animal Research Center linkage map for bovine chromosome 27.

Technical Abstract: A 5000-rad radiation hybrid comprehensive map of bovine chromosome 27 (BTA27) is presented. The map contains 19 loci, consisting of 17 microsatellite markers and 2 single nucleotide polymorphisms within genes known to lie on BTA27. All markers are ordered with odds greater than 1000:1. The proposed order is generally consistent with the current linkage map.
